Juveniles in the Piedmont region are experiencing an increase in crime rates among themselves as well as an increase in the need for intervention for mental health related concerns. In order to give these students an outlet and provide them with resources to do so, “The Creative Juice Box” is a campaign that aims to promote the funding of after school art programs while distributing supplies to continue the practice at home. As of right now, middle and high schools in the area don’t offer the opportunity for students to get involved in this passion the same way they do for activities such as sports. Students interested in art or in need of a creative, emotional outlet are left underserved. With a lack of resources for our youth, they turn to unhealthy coping mechanisms and have a higher potential of falling into the wrong crowds as they struggle to find a place for them to belong to.
